Cougars face Saint Mary's to open WCC Tournament
PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s tennis heads to San Diego this week to compete in the West Coast Conference tournament Wednesday through Saturday.
The Cougars (9-17, 3-6) earned the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 Saint Mary’s (4-17, 1-8) in a play-in match Wednesday at 9 a.m. PDT. A win would advance them to face No. 40 Pepperdine Thursday at 3 p.m. PDT.
BYU began WCC play with three consecutive victories but dropped its last six matches in conference play. The Cougars played the Gaels in its WCC opener, a 4-3 victory at home in February. BYU is led by senior captain Francis Sargeant, who moved into sixth on BYU's all-time wins list, and freshman Shane Monroe who leads the team in singles wins with 15.
