PROVO, Utah – BYU men's tennis has been selected by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association to host a regional tournament as part of the ITA Summer Circuit this July in Provo.

“This tournament is a great opportunity for our program,” BYU assistant coach Brett Bernstein said. “It will give our guys, other regional players and top juniors the opportunity to compete here on BYU campus."

Since 1993, the ITA Summer Circuit has provided nearly 30,000 college, junior and alumni players the opportunity to compete in competitive, organized events each summer. The circuit is made up of nine regional circuits (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Mountain, Texas, Northern California and Southern California) and each region consists of four consecutive open tournaments played during the month of July, culminating in the ITA/USTA National Summer Championships in Bloomington, Indiana, in August. The Cougars will host the final tournament in the Mountain Region.

“Hosting puts us in elite company with some of the top programs in the nation,” Bernstein said. “It will be a great platform and tool to keep building our program.”

Five programs currently ranked in the top 15 nationally are set to host regional tournaments this summer, including the University of Oklahoma who has been ranked No. 1 for much of the season.

The tournament being hosted by BYU will take place at the outdoor courts on BYU campus from July 24-25 and will feature local college and junior tennis players. Draws will be released closer to the date of the tournament.
