PROVO, Utah -- The BYU men’s tennis team heads out on the road again for more West Coast Conference action as it faces San Francisco Friday at 1 p.m. PDT and No. 67 Santa Clara Saturday at 1 p.m.
“I think this weekend will be a real character and resilience test for the team,” BYU head coach Brad Pearce said. “We've taken some time this week in the classroom to go over the fundamentals of closing out matches. Hopefully they all learned something.”
The Cougars (7-12, 1-3 WCC) first take on the Dons (9-10) who are 0-4 in conference. BYU is 5-1 in all-time against San Francisco.
Saturday will be another road test as the team challenges the 67th-ranked Broncos. Santa Clara will be the 10th match against a ranked team.
Last weekend, BYU was led by Matthew Pearce as he went undefeated. The freshman won both doubles matches with teammate Francis Sargeant and secured two victories in singles, which included a clutch win at the No. 5 spot in a near upset of Pepperdine.
The Cougars will be on the road again next week against No. 55 San Diego April 12 at noon PDT.
