PROVO, Utah  - Hailey Campbell will be the lone Cougar swimmer to compete at the women’s NCAA championships in Auburn, Ala. March 15-17.

"Qualifying for the NCAA championships has been a long-time personal goal," said Campbell. "I'm excited to compete with the best female athletes in college swimming and hope to improve my best times."

This is Campbell’s first year competing at BYU after transferring from Penn State. Campbell received multiple first and second team selections for her performances at the MPSF championships.

She received all-conference first team awards for the 100 and 200 back. She also achieved second team awards for her efforts in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay.

Campbell will be competing in the 200 back after breaking an MPSF meet record with her time of 1:55.46.

BYU divers start competition for Zone E Championships at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colo. on March 8. They will be competing against 20 other teams combined and will dive throughout the weekend until March 10.

“This weekend is going to be tight and full of competition,” BYU head diving coach Keith Russell said. “Our divers will need to perform at their best because the competition is strong, deep and very talented. It’s going to be a pretty difficult weekend.”

Zone E Championships will decide which divers will be competing at the NCAA championships for both men and women.
