PROVO, Utah – The BYU swim and dive team will make their debut in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference championships this week, lasting Feb. 15-18.

“We’re expecting to do really well this weekend,” said BYU head coach Tim Powers. “There are a few teams we haven’t seen before with us being new to the conference. We know that some of the teams have posted great times, but we’re ready and confident.”

MPSF championships will take place in Monterey Park, Calif. for swim teams in the conference. Dive teams will compete in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“The divers wont be with us, but we’re expecting them to do really well down in Colorado,” said Powers. “Our dive program is one of the strongest in the conference, so we have no doubt that they will compete well.”

Conference championships will begin on Wednesday with the men and women’s 200 and 800 medley relay races. The meet will last through Saturday Feb. 18.
