Watson Wins 3 Meter
TUCSON, Ariz. – Brandon Watson saw success at the annual Wildcat diving invite this weekend in Arizona, taking first in the men’s 3-meter springboard competition.
“We had a lot of good things happen,” BYU head dive coach Keith Russell said. “The PAC 12 has very talented divers, both men and women. Brandon had a really good showing on the 3-meter and Syrena made the finals in the 1-meter. So, overall it was a pretty successful meet for us.”
In the men’s 3-meter, Watson scored a 388.05 prelim before taking first place with his score of 420.90. Kevin Dreesen placed ninth in the prelims in the same even with his score of 315.00.
For the women, Dayna Christensen placed ninth in the prelims of the 3-meter with a score of 261.10, before placing second in the consolation finals with a score of 291.13.
In the men’s 1-meter, Watson earned third place in the finals with a score of 361.50 while teammate Travis Day placed eighth with a score of 247.95.
Syrena Miskin scored a 266.85 in the preliminary round of the women’s 1-meter before earning eighth place with a score of 233.50.
The dive team will take a break from competition before heading to San Diego for the team’s annual Christmas break training.
