Team Splits For Home and Away Meets

PROVO, Utah – The BYU swim and dive team will split up this weekend as the divers head to the Trojan Invitational in Calif., Friday and Saturday while the swim team will stay home for a meet against UNLV Friday evening.

“UNLV has a good team and they’ve always been tough competition for us,” BYU head coach Tim Powers said. “We’re confident that we’ll compete well, though. We’ve swam against them before and we have a pretty good idea of what to expect and what we need to do to be able to swim well.”

The Cougars last competed in the Pacific Invite where the women of BYU placed first overall while the men finished second. The Cougars look to start their run of conference competition with a win against UNLV for both men and women.

While the swimmers compete at home this weekend, the divers will travel to California to compete in the Trojan Invitational at the University of Southern California. Teams attending the invite include USC, Air Force, Arizona, Cal, CSU Bakersfield, Fresno State, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara and Wisconsin. 

The home meet against UNLV will begin Friday at 6 p.m. in the Richards building pool, while the diving invite will begin 10 a.m. Friday morning and will continue through Saturday afternoon.
