PROVO, Utah – The BYU swim and dive team will commence the 2011-12 season with the annual blue and white alumni meet this Friday in the Richards Building pool.

While this is only an intrasquad meet, it will be a good opportunity for coaches to get a better look at how the teams compete with and against each other.

“The coaches and I are hoping to get a better idea of how our newcomers will perform,” said BYU head coach Tim Powers. “We’ve been working with the athletes all summer and we are confident in the talent we have.”

The swim and dive team recently moved from the Mountain West Conference to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. With this move comes new competition along with familiar teams that made the switch along with BYU.

“We’re looking forward to going up against some new competition, but it’s nice to have a few teams that we’ve already been swimming against on a regular basis,” said Powers.

The blue and white meet will feature the entire swim and dive team along with an open invitation to all former BYU swimmers, divers and coaches. The meet will take place Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m.
