Grant Grabs Swimmer Of The Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Wyoming junior Brandon Fischer and senior Mark Murdock have been named Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, while BYU senior Rachel Grant and New Mexico junior Aubrey Bush earned women's swimming and diving honors, respectively.

Fischer, a product of Livermore, Calif., led Wyoming to a 165-135 dual-meet victory over Conference foe Air Force on Saturday. The senior recorded first place finishes in three individual events, including a sweep of the breaststroke events. He paced the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.66, and won the 200 breast with a mark of 2:06.05. Fischer also took first in the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.65).

Murdock, from Flower Mound, Texas, swept the springboard events in the Cowboys' dual meet vs. the Falcons. The senior posted the league's second-best score this season on the 3-meter springboard, tallying 414.45 points to win the event and set program and Corbett Pool records. He also turned in the MWC's fourth-highest score on the 1-meter board, collecting a facility-best 374.55 points for first place.

Grant, a native of Walnut, Calif., captured three individual wins on Friday to lead BYU to a 161-139 Deseret First Duel victory at Utah. The senior won the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 1:51.09. She also clocked a time of 2:01.08 to win the 200-yard butterfly, and completed the meet by taking first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.68).

Bush, who hails from Franktown, Colo., posted two NCAA zone-qualifying scores on Friday in New Mexico's dual meet at its in-state rival, New Mexico State. The junior scored a season-best 305.25 points on the 1-meter springboard to win the event and qualify for the postseason. She also tallied a mark of 324.00 to lead all divers on the 3-meter springboard.
