COLORADO SPRINGS -- The BYU swimming and diving team had 11 women and eight men named to the All-Mountain West Conference team on Monday. To be placed on the all-conference team, an individual must place in the top six of a men’s event and the top eight for women. For both the men’s and women’s relays, the all-conference team consists of the top three finishers in each race.

“I feel really good about the awards our swimmers and divers received for their performance at the Mountain West Conference Championships,” said BYU head coach Tim Powers.

The BYU women broke eight individual BYU records and two BYU relay records, as well as posting BYU all-time top five times in three other events. The men broke two individual BYU records, as well as making the top-five all-time best list in seven other events.

Being named to the All-MWC Team for the men was Stott Bushnell, Kenneth Clark, Gregor Greiner, Sam Hatch, Jacoby Jacobsen, John Kendrick, Ronald Morris and Vytenis Slenys.

The women named to the All-MWC Team included Sara Jayne Christiansen, Kirsty Ferrell, Rachel Grant, Kelsey Higginson, Ava Jackman, Tawni Jones, Michelle Menezes, Natasha Menezes, Aleesha Miller, Leilani Roberts and Candice Smith.

The men’s 200 free and 400 medley relays were named to the All-MWC list as well as the women’s 200 medley, 200 free, 400 medley and 400 free relays.

The BYU women came out of Conference Championships with their eighth MWC title in 10 years while the men placed fourth. The men have earned five MWC titles since the inception of the MWC 10 years ago.
