PROVO -- With solid diving from both teams, the Stanford Cardinal posted first-place finishes in every event at Friday’s meet at the Richard’s Building pool.

“I felt really good about the meet today,” said BYU diving coach Keith Russell. “It’s always a great opportunity to dive against other teams.”

The women’s first round of diving was taken by Meg Hostage of Stanford on the 3-meter board with a score of 319.2. BYU’s own Ava Jackman posted a 308.55 on the 3-meter in second place with Emily Woods in fourth place (291.3).

The first three places on the 1-meter board for the men was swept by Stanford with Scott Thalman in fourth place with a score of 292.425.

For the women’s second round of diving, Stanford took the first two places with Ava Jackman in third place on the 1-meter board with a point total of 281.675.

Stanford took the first two places of the men’s 3-meter with Ron Morris and Sam Hatch in third and fourth, respectively. Morris scored 348.525 while Hatch posted 310.2.

“As long as we have a willingness to work hard and put everything together, we will do well at conference championships,” said Russell. “We are looking forward to competing.”

The swim and dive team will travel to Oklahoma City Feb. 25-28 for the Mountain West Conference Championships. Stay updated with the team on www.byucougars.com/swimming_diving/.
