BYU Diving Invitational A Success

PROVO -- In day two of the BYU Diving Invitational the divers improved many scores while competing against Boise State and finishing on top of the Broncos in both days of competition.

“I felt really good about the competition today,” said BYU diving coach Keith Russell. “We stepped up our intensity and we were able to maintain that. Overall, everyone did better today and I am really happy about that.”

Russell expressed how this meet was to see what kind of success the younger divers could have in Division I diving.

“That’s why this meet was important,” said Russell. “I am very pleased with our divers today, especially Syrena Miskin who shined both days and showed us some good things.”

Miskin finished second on the 1-meter board with a score of 262.72 in day two of competition. She also finished second on the 3-meter board with a score of 267.75.

In the first set of dives, Ava Jackman finished first out of seven divers on the 1-meter board with a point total of 274. 72. Jackman also finished first on the platform with 211.72 points.

Boise State’s Erin Loinberger won the 3-meter competition, finishing with a score of 268.04.

Freshman Sam Hatch won the platform competition with 228.29 points.

Sophomore Ron Morris finished first on the 1-meter board with 319.52 points, with freshman teammate David Corless was close behind him with 291.45 points on the 1-meter. Morris also won the 1-meter competition with 319.65 points.
