Yabe Places Seventh at U.S. Nationals
INDIANAPOLIS -- Junior Diogo Yabe, a native of Parana, Brazil, placed seventh in the 200 IM at the U.S. Nationals with a time of 2:04.94.
Yabe, the Brazilian National Champion in the 200 IM, was the only Cougar to make the trip to the Nationals. Competition at the meet included some of the best swimmers in the world as Yabe contended with the top athletes from the U.S., Canada, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
Last season Yabe transferred to BYU from Golden West College in California, and helped the Cougars win the Mountain West Conference title for the fourth consecutive time this year. He is also the school record holder in the 100-yard fly.
