Cougars Drop Meet in Colorado
FORT COLLINS -- The BYU women's swim team went to battle with conference foe Colorado State on Friday night, but the Rams came away with the win defeating the Cougars 137-106.
The veteran swimmers had a strong showing for the Cougars as seniors Cortnee Adams, Amanda Grant, and juniors Tamber Covington, Nichole Burrows, and Monica Ferrell each placed in the top three in every event they competed in.
Adams, Burrows, and Covington helped BYU to a second place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. Adams went on to place second in the 200 free and win the 100 free. Burrows took second place in the 200 back and was a part of the second place 400 free relay team.
In only her second competition since returning from knee surgery, Covington won the 200 breast and placed third in the 200 IM. Grant also came up big for the Cougars by winning the 500 free, and placing second in both the 200 IM and the 200 breaststroke.
Senior diver Kelli Einfeldt helped out the Cougars by winning the 3-meter event with a score of 319.65 and placed second in the 1-meter with a score of 275.39.
BYU (2-6, 1-4) will face another conference competitor as the Cougars host Air Force Friday, Jan. 25, in the Stephen L. Richards Building at 6:00 p.m.
