BYU Hosts Diving Invitational
PROVO -- BYU will play host to UNLV, Colorado State, and the University of Utah at the annual BYU Diving Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7, in the Stephen L. Richards Building.
This year's diving team is talented and experienced with the return of
Second-Team All-American Aaron Russell, and All-MWC diver Justin Beardall. Senior Kelli Einfeldt, a MWC finalist in both the 1-M and 3-M events last season, will lead the women's team, with freshmen Aubrey Low and Ashley Campbell adding depth.
Diving head coach Keith Russell said, "It will be a fierce fought competition."
Last season the men dominated the diving events at the MWC championships, claiming the top four spots in the 1-M, the top five spots in the 3-M, and six of the top eight spots in the platform event.
"The men should dominate and the women should do well," Russell said. "The goal we set is to be consistent and get all the dives to be the same more often."
The invitational begins Friday morning, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. (MDT) with the women's 3-M and the men's 1-M events, and then again on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m. with the women's 1-M, the men's 3-M and will finish with the platform events.
