Kunkel, Tutunnikova Score at All-American Diving Invite
PROVO -- BYU divers Rachelle Smith Kunkel and Anna Tutunnikova scored well at the annual All-American Diving Invitational Wednesday and Thursday in Austin, Texas.
Kunkel, a senior All-American from West Valley City, took third overall on the 1-meter board with a score of 412.70. Kunkel finished 16th in a field of 45 divers on the 3-meter board, just behind Tutunnikova. Tutunnikova, a junior transfer from Russia, claimed 15th on the 3-meter and moved up to 10th on the 1-meter board.
Kunkel and Smith represented BYU in the invitational, which boasted competitors from 18 different schools. They will join the men's and women's swimming and diving teams next weekend as they compete in dual meets against Air Force and Wyoming.
