BYU Divers Fare Well on Opening Day of USC Invitational
LOS ANGELES -- The BYU men's diving team had all three divers finish in the top eight in the 3-meter springboard finals while the women had two divers reach the semifinal of the 1-meter board on the opening day of the USC Diving Invitational Thursday.
Sophomore Justin Wilcock finished second on the 3-meter board with a score of 503.95 while Omar Ojeda of Arizona won the event. Teammate Aaron Russell finished in fifth place with a score of 483.25 and Viraj Patil placed seventh with a score of 463.75.
For the women, two divers made it into the semifinal of the 1-meter event, but did not advance into the final round of competition. Kelli Einfeldt finished seventh the with a score of 226.40 while sophomore Aubrie Cropper finished eighth with a score of 226.00.
The USC Diving Invitational continues tomorrow with the men competing on the 1-meter board and the women on the 3-meter board.
