ZONE E Day 3

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Mickey Strauss led the way again for the Cougars in Wednesday's events, qualifying for the NCAA's in the platform event on what was the final day of the Zone E Championships at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center.

Alexia Jackson and Brooklyn Larson represented the BYU women's team in the 1-meter dive, as Jackson completed her third event of the week. In the prelim round, Jackson placed 39th with a 217.80, while Larson came in 43rd with a score of 203.60. This event would conclude a successful season for the BYU women's dive team.

On the men's side, Mickey Strauss shined for the second-straight day, this time in the platform event. After placing second in the prelim dive, scoring a 328.35 behind a 371.50 by Stanford's Ethan Foster, he would ultimately finish sixth in the event with a final score of 631.75. Strauss's performance would further solidify his spot to compete in the NCAAs.

Other divers to compete for the men's team in the platform dive were Chase Hindmarsh and Cody Dreesen. In the prelim round, Hindmarsh scored a 293.15 to place 14th, while Dreesen would come in 22nd with a 214.35. Hindmarsh went on to compete in the final round as well and went on to finish in 15th place with a final score of 552.30.

Strauss will represent the Cougars in the NCAAs later this month, March 22-25. As for the rest of the BYU dive teams, they will prepare to enter the off-season after a tremendous season of individual and team performances.
