FEDERAL WAY, Wa. — At the conclusion of day one at the Zone E Championships, Mickey Strauss led the way for the Cougars with the highest finish among BYU athletes, placing ninth in the 1-meter dive with a total score of 671.45.

In a day that featured the men competing in the 1-meter dive event and the women competing in the 3-meter event, Strauss, alongside Chase Hindmarsh and Cody Dreesen, all placed in the top-20 of the field. Behind Strauss's ninth-place finish, Hindmarsh finished in eleventh-place with a 595.60, while Dreesen placed seventeenth with a 558.95.

The men will next compete in the 3-meter dive on Tuesday, Mar. 7, as the divers will look to finish inside the top-eight to be granted qualification into NCAAs.

For the women, Alexa Jackson was the solo dive athlete to participate for the Cougars in the 3-meter dive. Her 531.20 total score in the event was good for eighteenth place. The women will compete in the platform dive Tuesday, seeking a qualification for NCAAs in the event.

Tuesday's events will begin at 11:30 a.m. PT again, starting with the prelim dives. Event results can be followed on the BYU Swim and Dive social media pages on Instagram and Twitter, along with DiveMeets.com
