Cougars Earn All-Conference Honors

PROVO, Utah – The BYU swim and dive team shined during the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships and represented the program with 18 Cougar men and 14 Cougar women being named 2019-20 All-Conference honorees. 

“It’s always great to receive honors and and represent BYU any way that we can,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. 

Junior Connor Stirling and sophomore Javier Matta led the men’s team with five honors each; one first-team and four second-team placements for Stirling and five second-team standings for Matta. Senior Levi Jensen followed with four second-team honors, while Josue Dominguez landed with three total, including two second-team and one first-team award. 

Freshman Mickey Strauss earned first-team honors in all three diving events. Kimble Mahler and Morgan Cooper claimed two awards each; Mahler with one first-team and one second-team and Cooper with two second-team placements. 

Sophomores Gwen Gustafson and Brynn Sproul led the women with five awards each, both earning two first-team and three second-team spots. Katie McBratney and Tiare Coker both followed with four honors apiece. McBratney took three first-team and one second-team, while Coker claimed four second-team awards. 

Overall, the BYU men earned 11 first-team awards and 29 second-team awards out of the 18 men athletes honored. Fourteen women earned nine first-team awards and 28 second-team awards.
