Cooper, Cribbs and Gonzales Shine at Utah Diving Invite

SALT LAKE CITY – Divers Morgan Cooper, Kennedy Cribbs and Nathan Gonzales earned second-place scores for BYU at the Utah Invitational this weekend.

On the first day of the invitational, Cooper took second in the men’s 1-meter at 362.40, recording a new personal best and BYU’s No. 3 all-time best score in that event. On the final day, Cribbs placed second in the women’s 1-meter with a score of 275.80, while Gonzales competed in the men’s 3-meter placing second at 353.10.

Morgan Paul shined early on by coming in fourth in the women’s 3-meter and earned a career-high score of 289.15. Teammate Adia London went on to finals in the 1-meter, placing fifth and received a career-high score of 250.55. Kaela Call also qualified in that event and finished eighth with a 240.40.

Cooper also performed well in the finals for the men’s 3-meter event scoring a 328.50 and placing high at third. Kimble Mahler and Bryce Farabee impressed in the 1-meter, placing fourth and fifth with scores of 297.40 and 283.80, respectively. Farabee also took fourth in the 3-meter receiving a 299.65.

This concludes the BYU’s swim and dive fall season, the Cougars compete next in a dual meet against Grand Canyon for senior night. The meet will be held in the Richards Building Pool, in Provo, Utah on Jan. 12. The BYU swim and dive team will have their winter training camp in California.
