Dive Team Travels to Utah Invite
PROVO, Utah – The BYU dive team travels to Salt Lake City for its second ever diving invitational against the University of Utah from Nov. 30 to Dec.1 at the Ute Natatorium.
“The Utah Invite has been a very good format that prepares the divers for how conference and NCAA Zones will be,” BYU head diving coach Tyce Routson said. “Evening finals events heighten the head-to-head experience and gives the athletes the intensity and focus needed for the upcoming season. After a good rest we are looking forward to the competition.”
Other schools competing in the invitational include USC, Air Force and Utah. All divers will participate in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Three divers from each event will then qualify to go on to finals each night.
Several divers from BYU have already received zone cuts and career-best scores this season, including Nathan Gonzales, Morgan Cooper, Kimble Mahler, Kennedy Cribbs and Morgan Paul.
Friday prelims begin at 10 a.m. MST on Friday, Nov. 30, and follow with finals at 6:30 p.m. MST. Saturday’s schedule will include prelims at 10 a.m. MST and finals at 4:15 p.m. MST. Results will be available on the swim and dive schedule page.
