Cougar dive team heads to first ever Utah Diving Invitational

PROVO, Utah ­– The BYU dive team travels up north to The University of Utah to compete in the first ever Utah Diving Invitational held this weekend from Dec. 1-2.

The invite includes three other teams besides the Cougars including Utah, USC and Air Force.

Select members of the diving team recently competed at the UT Diving Invitational where three divers recorded 1A zone cuts and many posted career and season-best scores. At the UT Diving Invite, sophomore Nathan Gonzales earned a new career high on the 1-meter at 366.50, also earning him third place in the competition. Freshman Elizabeth Holmes earned her first BYU zone cut on the 1-meter while both Gonzales and freshman Morgan Cooper earned 3-meter zone cuts. Gonzales and Cooper now both have zone cuts on the 1- and 3-meter.

The invite begins at 6:30 p.m. MST on Friday, Dec. 1, and continues on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. MST at the Ute Natatorium in Salt Lake City.
