Seven swimmers and divers named to the Scholar All-America team
PROVO, Utah – Seven members of the BYU swim and dive team were selected by The College Swimming and Diving Association of America (CSCAA) as members of the Scholar All-America team on Tuesday.
"Having seven athletes selected for the Scholar All-America team shows how dedicated the swimmers and divers are to academics and the sport," BYU head swim coach John Brooks said. "I congratulate each one of them for this success."
BYU's Anna Dahl, a swimmer, and Morgan Mellow, a diver, were chosen for the Scholar All-America team due to academic excellence. In addition, five members of the Cougar men’s team were also selected for the recognition, including Matt Denkers, Kevin Dreesen, Preston Jenkins, Luis Ventura and Jordan Tuckfield.
This selection recognizes students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. These athletes must have also participated in their respective swimming and diving championships.
A record number of 997 swimmer and divers were named part of the Scholar All-America Team. Not only are students improving academically, but the amount of institutions sponsoring swimming and diving is increasing.
