Rogers and Sorenson compete in Arena Pro Swim Series

PROVO, Utah – Nathan Rogers and Payton Sorenson travel to Mesa, Arizona to compete in the 2017 Arena Pro Swim Series from April 13-15.

“This meet hosts some of the fastest swimmers on the planet,” BYU head swim coach John Brooks said. “It is a great opportunity for both of these swimmers to improve in their various events and represent BYU.”

Sorenson most recently competed in the NCAA Division I Swim and Dive Championships, where he placed 21st out of 51 competitors in the 50 freestyle (19.37). He also swam in the 100 free and placed 24th with a time of 42.86. This week, Sorenson will only be competing in the 50 free.

Sophomore Rogers competed last in February at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships (MPSF), where he placed ninth in the 200 breaststroke (2:03.39) and 10th in the 400 individual medley (4:01.20). At the Series in Arizona, Rogers will be competing in the 200 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM.

The event will be held at the Skyline Aquatic Center, with prelims beginning each day at 9 a.m. MST and finals starting at 5 p.m. MST. Listed below are the events that Rogers or Sorenson will be participating in throughout the three days:

Thursday:

200 Breaststroke

Friday:

400 IM

50 Freestyle

Saturday:

200 Butterfly
