Sorenson earns conference honors

PROVO, Utah – Payton Sorenson won two separate conference honors this week after winning all four of his events in a BYU victory over rival Utah Saturday.

The sophomore from Mesa, Arizona, was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/Turbo Athlete of the Week and TeamUnify/Collegeswimming.com MPSF Swimmer-of-the-Week.

Sorenson’s big meet included two individual first-place finishes, including the 50-yard freestyle (19.99) and 100 free (44.37). He also contributed a 19.42 split as part of the 200 medley relay team that broke a Richards Building Pool record (1:29.05). In the final event of Saturday's meet, Sorenson split a 44.13 en route to helping BYU capture first in the 400 medley relay (3:01.11). This selection is Sorenson’s second by MPSF/Turbo and first from TeamUnify/Collegeswimming.com.
