Sorenson named MPSF/Turbo Athlete of the Week
PROVO, Utah – BYU men's swimmer Payton Sorenson was named male Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/Turbo Athlete of the Week for his performances against UNLV and Colorado Mesa last Friday and Saturday.
Sorenson, a sophomore from Mesa, Arizona, took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a 20.34 finish, a top-15 time in the country. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound returned missionary also raced to a 19.79 50 free split in his leg of the 200 medley relay against Colorado Mesa on Saturday. Sorenson split sub-20 seconds in each of his relays against UNLV and Colorado Mesa. This selection is Sorenson’s first as MPSF Athlete of the Week.
