Cougars win 5k and 10k at Deer Creek Open Water Marathon Swim
PROVO, Utah–Two BYU swimmers capped off the summer by taking first place in the 5k and 10k races at the Deer Creek Open Water Marathon Swim in Heber, Utah, on Aug. 8, 2015.
McKay Palmer, who swims distance for the Cougars, took first place in the 5k event, finishing in 1:06:22.321. Dallin Johnson, who is also a distance swimmer for BYU, won the 10k event, and finished with a time of 1:53:35.651. Johnson’s time was 22 minutes faster than the next closest finisher.
“This was a really great way for a couple of our swimmers to be able to finish the season,” BYU head swim coach John Brooks said. “It was really just something fun, and it’s just a great thing for them to be able to do as competitors to cap off the summer.”
