PROVO, Utah – The BYU swim and dive teams take on the University of Denver this Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. MST at the Richards Building Pool.

"Denver is a great team and they are coached very well," BYU head coach John Brooks said. "It's great to have a home meet and we're looking forward to some good swimming and diving!"

It will be the first home meet for the Cougars this year. The BYU men’s team is coming off a narrow defeat at Arizona State two weeks ago, having fallen 151-148 in Tempe, Arizona. Jake Taylor, Michael King, Rainer Ng and Rafael Alfaro will look to build off their first-place finish in the men’s 200-yard medley relay.

Freshman Luis Ventura won the men’s 500-yard freestyle and finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 400-yard individual medley and was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Athlete of the Week.

Haley Bertoldo was named the women’s MPSF/TURBO Athlete of the Week for her performance in the loss to the Sun Devils, recording a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Ciera Marsh Keller picked up a second-place finish in the same event.

Denver comes in to the meet with a record of 2-0. The men and women each knocked off Wyoming with the men adding a win against UNLV and the women defeating Boise State. The Pioneers will be in Salt Lake City the day before taking on the Cougars for a meet against the University of Utah.
