GRAND JUNCTION, CO -- A small group of BYU swimmers is in Grand Junction, Colorado, competing at the Colorado Mesa Invite at the El Pomar Natatorium Dec. 4-6.
The women’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Emily To’o, Sydney Dahl, Olivia Capocci and Sophia Lex started the meet with a third-place finish for BYU with a time of 1:36.24.
The men’s 200 free relay team picked up the Cougars' only first-place finish on day one. The team of Garrett Greenland, Nathan Henderson, Daniel Kelly and Mitchell Allphin finished with a time of 1:24.02.
Freshman Samantha Lingenbrink finished fifth in the women’s 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 5:10.02. Dallin Johnson also finished fifth for the men in the same event with a time of 4:39.27.
To’o picked up another fifth-place finish for BYU, this time in the women’s 200-yard individual medley when she completed the event in 2:10.01.
In the men’s 50-yard freestyle, Allphin finished in 21.18, good enough for a fouth-place finish.
