23 Cougars receive all-academic honors
PROVO, Utah – Recipients of the 2014 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Swimming and Diving All-Academic teams were announced, honoring 23 members of the BYU swimming and diving team.
BYU had the most recipients in the conference with 11 athletes including divers David Corless and Matt Hopper, and swimmers Chad Sorensen, Andrew Rutherfurd, Stephen Richards, Jordan Fletcher, Edward Young, Brent Stevenson, Hayden Palmer, Dallin Johnson and Rafael Alfaro.
Twelve were selected from the women’s team including divers Haley Francois and Mackenzie Rands and swimmers Alexandria Sorensen, Angela Bennion, Jessica Ampuero, Andrea Grant, Kimberly Doroghian, Aubree Allen, Ciera Marsh, Camille Okelberry, Alexandra Dodds and Daniele Vaughan.
Qualifying recipients for the MPSF All-Academic award maintained a 3.0 GPA or better, are a sophomore academically, competed one full academic year for the Cougars prior to 2013-2014 season and competed in at least half of the institution’s meets.
