Cougars to host Utah in Deseret First Duel
PROVO, Utah – BYU swimming and diving will host Utah in the Deseret First Duel meet Friday at 5 p.m. MST at the Richards Building pool.
“Our team is always excited to swim against Utah,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “They are doing great things with their program, and it’s exciting to have the competition at home in our pool.”
A total of six overall points are up for grabs this weekend in the Deseret First Duel, three for the men’s team and three for the women’s team. BYU has won five of the last seven meets against Utah and will look for a comeback after last year’s close loss in Salt Lake City.
BYU will also honor its 11 seniors in their last home competition of the season.
“We’re grateful for everything they’ve done for us and for our program,” Brooks said. “It’s one of those bittersweet moments where you’re sad to see them go, but you’re excited to see what they will do with the rest of their lives.”
The men’s team will recognize seniors Stott Bushnell, Jordan Fletcher, Brent Murray and Andrew Rutherfurd. The women’s team will recognize Jessica Ampuero, Angela Bennion, Hailey Campbell, Alexandra Dodds, Kimberly Doroghian, Daniele Vaughan and Raleigh Williams Taylor.
Check the men’s swimming and diving home page for results following the meet.
