SAN BRUNO, Calif.--For the third time this season, senior Miles Batty was named the West Coast Conference Runner of the Month.

Since taking first place at the conference championships, a race in which he shattered the course record, Batty continued his outstanding season with an individual championship at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships, a meet in which the Cougars had a first place team finish as well.

Batty also had an impressive 14th place finish at the 2011 NCAA National Championships, a finish that led BYU to a fourth place finish at nationals, its second-best finish in the history of the program, second only to a second-place finish in 1993.

Some of Batty’s accolades from the 2011 season include the following:
  • 2011 USTFCCCA All-American
  • All-Region
  • Mountain Region Athlete of the Year
  • Three WCC Runner of the Month awards
  • Named to the All-WCC team
  • Named to the WCC All-Academic Team
  • Four individual championships (BYU Invitational, Notre Dame Invitation, WCC Championship and Mountain Region Championship)
  • 14th place finish at the 2011 National Championships
