Cross Country Team Earns Scholar-Athlete Awards

PROVO, Utah—A total of 581 student-athletes received the Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2010-2011 season, including 110 from BYU and 14 from the men and women’s cross country teams. The award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the conference.

Among the 14 receiving the award, five represented the men’s team and nine represented the women’s with six athletes receiving the award for the second year.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
