Three Runners Placed on Academic All-District Teams

PROVO -- Three BYU student-athletes, two from the men's team and one from the women's team, were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District track & field/cross country team released today.

Miles Batty, a sophomore from Sandy, Utah, majoring in Exercise Science, was named to the District VIII First Team. Competing in cross country this past year, Batty qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships after finishing second at the NCAA Mountain Regional. Batty also earned All-Mountain West Conference honors with a second-place finish at the MWC championships.

Jonathan Kotter, a law graduate student also from Sandy, Utah, was named to the District VIII Second Team. Kotter competed in the 10,000-meter run last week at the NCAA West Regional after finishing second in the event at the MWC Outdoor Championships.

Cecily Lemmon-Lew was named to the District VIII Second Team on the women's side. Lew, a junior majoring in Print Journalism from Vacaville, Calif., won the MWC Cross Country Championship, finishing in first place by 23 seconds with a time of 20:47.4. The senior then placed second at the NCAA Mountain Regional, earning All-Region honors before garnering All-American status by finishing 10th at the NCAA Championships.
