Heiner Recieves MWC Honors

PROVO -- BYU senior Anne Heiner has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Heiner, a Las Cruces, N.M., native, finished fourth at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla., last Saturday. Her time of 17:59.00 in the 5K race led the sixth-ranked Cougars to the team title with a total score of 35 points.

"Anne ran a tough race," said Shane. "I was very impressed with her performance."

In 2005, Heiner was named First Team All-MWC with her performance at the MWC Championships. She also earned Mt. Region honors at the NCAA Mt. Region meet.

A graduate of Las Cruces High School, Heiner lettered three years in cross country, four in track, four in soccer and once in swimming. She also graduated fourth in her class with a 4.0 GPA.
