Bybee Wins MWC Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS -- Sophomore Dustin Bybee was selected Wednesday as the Mountain West Conference men's cross country athlete of the week.
Bybee paced the fourth-ranked Cougars with a first-place finish at the BYU Autumn Classic on Saturday at Cascade Golf Course in Orem. He crossed the finish line in 20:14.50 (four-mile course) as BYU claimed the team title.
Bybee was selected as a team captain at this year's team camp and has been strong for the Cougars to start the season, placing fourth in the BYU Alumni Invitational and first in the Autumn Classic.
In his freshman season (2004), Bybee was honored with First Team All-MWC after placing seventh at the MWC championships. In addition, he placed 78th in the NCAA Championships, which head coach Ed Eyestone said was a big factor in the Cougars placing fifth.
A native of Orem, Bybee ran for Mountain View High School where he helped the Bruins Capture two national titles.
