Turner Named Deseret Book Athlete of the Month
PROVO -- Four-time All-American Laura Turner has been named November's Deseret Book/BYU Female Athlete of the Month.
Turner's senior season capped off one of the most successful careers for a BYU cross country runner. Turner joined Michaela Mannova as the only female Cougar athlete to finish fourth (20:37.5) at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. Her performance vaulted BYU to an eighth-place finish.
With her performance at the NCAA Championships, Turner earned her fourth All-America citation. Elizabeth Jackson is the only female athlete to equal the accomplishment.
Turner earned MWC First-team honors three times and was named the 2004 MWC Cross Country Runner of the Year. She was also one of four nominees for the 2004-2005 Honda Sports Award for cross country.
