PROVO -- The Pre Mountain West Conference title was taken home by the Cougars on Saturday, has the women defeated host San Diego State by 34 points.

Julie Cameron won the overall title as she finished the 6K event with a time of 23:11.

"It was such a fun course to race," said Cameron. "Coach Shane told us to follow San Diego State's lead runner for the first two miles and then with about a mile-and-a-half to go, he wanted us to pick it up."

The Cougars won the race with a combined score of 15 points.

"We got out of this meet exactly what we wanted," said women's coach Patrick Shane. "The girls ran really well and I got to see what type of strategies will use when we return for the conference championship."

Carlyn Quebe finished second with a time of 23:14 as teammate Sara Ingebretsen took home third place honors with a time of 23:25.

"We got to develop some of our younger athletes today," Shane said.

Up next for the Cougars will be Pre Nationals on October 16, in Terre Haute, Indiana.
