Mantz and Orton earn WCC Co-Runners of the Month
SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced BYU All-Americans Conner Mantz and Whittni Orton as its October WCC Co-Runners of the Month, presented by University Credit Union.

Mantz took second overall at the OSU Invitational on Oct. 17, 2020. Mantz, a 2019 All-American for BYU’s national championship squad, finished with an 8K time of 23:31.4, just 1.2 seconds behind Northern Arizona’s Luis Grijalva. For Mantz, it was his eighth career top-three finish. Following the meet, the Cougars climbed to No. 2 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.
WHITTNI ORTON, SR., BYU
Orton led BYU to a dominant performance at the OSU Invitational on Oct. 17, 2020, finishing first overall with a 6K time of 20:27.8, nearly 11 seconds ahead of the next runner. She was one of six Cougars in the top 10 as BYU finished with a team score of 22 points, 28 points better than second-place Southern Utah. It marked Orton’s fourth career meet title and sixth top-three finish. Following the meet, the Cougars climbed to No. 3 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.
