PROVO, Utah—No. 5 BYU men’s cross country will compete in the NCAA Mountain Region Championships Friday in Riverdale, Utah, with hopes to qualify for the NCAA National Championships next weekend.

“I feel good about regionals,” head coach Ed Eyestone said. “We need a solid performance. We need to run hard enough to qualify, but not so hard that that we cause too much fatigue.”

The men’s race will begin at noon MST. The meet is hosted by Weber State University.

The Cougars are coming off a dominant showing at the West Coast Conference Championships where they placed four runners in the top ten.  BYU has won four of its five meets this season, taking second in a nationally-loaded field at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.

If they qualify, the Cougars will head to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 23.
