PROVO, Utah—BYU concluded the fall sports season ranked No. 13 in the Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings with a score of 255.5. It’s the school’s best fall ranking since the 2003-04 season, when the Cougars ranked fifth with 248 points.

Men’s cross country, football, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball contributed to the score, with three teams finishing in the top 20 of their respective sports.

Men’s cross country finished sixth at the NCAA Championships to earn 73.5 points in the Director’s Cup standings.

Women’s soccer finished No. 5 in national standings, its highest postseason ranking to date, after making it to the round of eight in the NCAA College Cup. Soccer finished its season with a 20-2-2 record, earning BYU 73 points for the Director’s Cup.

Women’s volleyball finished 12th in national standings, reaching the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship for its farthest postseason run since 2007. The volleyball team ended with a 28-4 record for its best win-loss record since 1998, good for 64 points in the standings.

Finishing No. 26 in the nation with a victory in the Poinsettia Bowl, the football team brought in 45 points for BYU.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women’s and 10 men’s.

Stanford leads the Division I standings with 398 points.
