BYU Athletics renovating west side of SAB to expand football offices, Built4Life Center
PROVO, Utah — Renovations are taking place in the Student Athlete Building at BYU, where football offices are housed, as well as various student-athlete services and athletic administration.
Initial renovations have started on both the second and third floors of the building, with the west side of the second floor expanding.
The football offices are adding a defensive meeting room, three new position rooms, a space for the coaches to meet with recruits, updated offensive and defensive staff war rooms, a new recruiting staff work room, updated furniture and hosting space in the lobby and new seating for the second floor of Legends Grill, where the team eats their meals during Fall Camp and throughout the season. The changes will allow the team to spread out more and improve the meeting space for the coaches and student-athletes.
The Built4Life Center will be completely remodeled with a layout that will better serve the needs of student-athletes. The focus of the space is on small and medium-sized rooms for student-athletes to study, hold tutor sessions and meet with advisors. All offices for staff members will be removed and an open office space for the staff will allow more rooms for use by student athletes. A classroom will be added that can be divided into three smaller classrooms for study sessions and class reviews. Within the space, there will also be three private therapy rooms for both mental health counseling and sports performance counseling.
The renovations to the football offices are expected to be completed by August 1. The Built4Life Center should be completed by the start of the fall semester.
