Bigger than ever, BYU50 is returning one more time, presented by Delta Air Lines

PROVO, Utah — BYU50 is returning for one final time, now presented by Delta Air Lines, and BYU Athletics is introducing a new format that gives more people a chance to win and a new grand prize that’s bigger than ever before. 

Each state’s location will be announced on the morning of July 22. Fans will have a two-hour window, beginning at noon local time, to find the location. Upon arrival at the location, fans will use the BYU Gameday App to check in and enter to win the grand prize of an all-expense-paid trip to the homecoming BYU football game on Oct. 21 against Texas Tech. One winner will be selected randomly from each state and those winners will be able to bring one guest with them to Provo on homecoming weekend.

This Year’s Prize Details 

The randomly selected winner from each state and a guest will each receive the following: 

  • Delta Air Lines airfare voucher to fly round trip from your local airport to Salt Lake International Airport* 

  • Transportation 

  • Accommodations provided by a BYU Athletics partner hotel

  • A ticket into the Oct. 21, 2023 (gametime TBA) homecoming football game 

  • Food and beverage

*Those who reside in a neighboring state or within Utah will receive a gas card for transportation in their own vehicle. 

Nationwide Drop Details 

July 22, 2023
12 - 2 p.m. in each local time zone 

All states outside of Utah will have at least one drop on July 22, 2023 at 12 p.m. in the local time zone. There may be more than one drop per state released. 

The exact Google Maps pin of the given drops will be released (on byucougars.com and on the app) at the 12 p.m. hour in the given time zone. Fans will travel to the pin location and find a BYU50 liaison who will help fans enter the sweepstakes.

The drop will be available for a two-hour period. 12-2 p.m. in the local time zone. Arrival any time in that window will allow fans to enter. There is no advantage in the sweepstakes based on arrival time.

Limited edition BYU50 shirts that represent the given state will be available to a limited number of participants who arrive quickest to the drop location.

Everyone who enters the sweepstakes in the given state will have an equally likely chance to win the grand prize in that state. Arriving early to the drop site does not increase chances of winning the grand prize.  

Enter to win 

Upon arrival, fans must do the following to enter: 

  1. Be within the drop zone radius to unlock the Enter to Win geofenced feature within the BYU Gameday App 

  1. Find the BYU50 Liaison with the branded poster  

  1. Take a photo with the BYU50 State Icon in your hand 

  1. Fill out the form with accurate information, including the photo of yourself holding the BYU50 State Icon 

  2. A confirmation email will be sent so you can confirm your entry. 

  3. Winners will be selected randomly and contacted via email on July 22 at 7 p.m. mountain time.  

  4. Note: Responses without a photo will not be eligible to win. 

  5. Note: There is no advantage to an early arrival time.

  6. Note: There is no advantage to multiple entries, however one person can enter in multiple states.

Fans must be at the drop site to fill out the form that enters them into the sweepstakes. 

Use of BYU Gameday App  

The BYU Gameday App will host BYU50 Presented by Delta. Fans must have the app downloaded and updated to enter to win. Click below to download the App or update it.

The Gameday App’s BYU50 feature will unlock the Enter to Win button once at the drop site. We encourage you to have your notifications turned on to ensure your best chance at arriving to the drop quickly.  

Eligibility to Win the Prize 

  • Must be 18 years or older on July 22, 2023 to enter to win 

  • Must hold a current US driver’s license 

  • Must enter to win on only one device per drop location, any duplicate entries per drop will void all entries 

  • Must be willing and able to travel on commercial airlines 

  • Agree to not transfer the grand prize to anyone else

  • Must hold a valid form of identification to travel

About BYU50

The origin of what is now the BYU50 campaign was in 2013 when a few select boxes of BYU Athletics merchandise were dropped in locations throughout Utah. In 2014, the number of boxes increased to 25 throughout the state. Clues were provided on BYU Athletics social media accounts to lead fans to the boxes. The first to find each box won the swag. Swarms of fans engaged with the event, including fans throughout the country who wanted to be involved. In 2015, the campaign went national. BYU Athletics provided exclusive boxes in at least one city in all 50 states. With BYU’s unique national fan base, tied closely with congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout the country, BYU fans can be found almost everywhere. The BYU50 campaign continued from 2016 through 2018, with some international locations also added. Prizes included exclusive boxes collaborated on with Nike and BYU football helmets. Each BYU50 drop throughout the campaign’s history has been found within minutes of the social media clues.
