BYU Athletics hires Tyson Hutchins as associate athletic director for creative strategy
PROVO, Utah — BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe has announced the hiring of Tyson Hutchins as associate athletic director for creative strategy.
This is a new associate athletic director role in BYU Athletics that is part of senior leadership changes as BYU prepares for the jump to the Big 12 Conference in 2023. Hutchins comes to BYU after spending two years as associate athletic director for creative solutions at Clemson. Prior to that, Hutchins got his start at BYU, working as a student employee in BYU Athletics and then in a full-time role as a digital content and new media coordinator.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tyson back to BYU,” Holmoe said. “He obviously brings with him some incredible experience from his time at Clemson. As we continue to expand and enhance our influence and impact on social media, we’re confident Tyson will help us reach new heights. As we make the jump to the Big 12, all of our teams are going to get more exposure on the national stage. We want to put our best foot forward as we share the BYU story with the world, and strategic brand messaging that Tyson will help execute on social media will play a big part in that.”
Hutchins will oversee social media and creative content, including graphic design and creative video in his role at BYU. He oversaw the same areas at Clemson.
“The opportunity to return to a place I care so deeply about is a dream come true,” Hutchins said. “The national brand that is BYU is stronger than ever. As we embark to the Big 12, we have a unique opportunity to tell the BYU story to an entirely new set of fans and recruits. I am ecstatic to join this elite athletic department and help further the goals and ideals of this world-class institution.”
Hutchins has become a thought leader among creatives in the athletics industry, with his work consistently being featured and discussed throughout the industry and all over social media.
Hutchins has a bachelor’s degree is sociology from BYU. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New York, New York North Mission.
