ATLANTA – Brigham Young University was awarded the Technology Leadership Award Wednesday by the Sports Video Group and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics at the 2015 SVG College Sports Summit in Atlanta.

The Technology Leadership Award is presented annually to the university that demonstrates a high level of commitment to the investment in and execution of broadcast and video infrastructure and technologies. BYU is just the third recipient of the national award. Previous winners include the University of Oklahoma
(2014) and the University of Notre Dame (2013).

“It’s a real honor for BYU to be selected as the recipient of the SVG/NACDA Technology Leadership Award,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “We are extremely grateful for our partnership with BYU Broadcasting. We appreciate the many dedicated and talented people in broadcasting, information technology and athletics who work closely together to create programing for our worldwide fan base that showcases the many talents of our student-athletes.”

BYU associate athletic director Duff Tittle and BYUtv Sports senior coordinating producer Mikel Minor were at the event to accept the award.

The combined efforts of the athletic department and BYUtv, as well as broadcast partners ESPN and the TheW.tv, has established BYU as a leader in college sports-video production and distribution. During the 2014-15 season, BYU broadcast more than 120 live events across multiple linear and digital platforms to a global audience. In addition, BYU Broadcasting produced numerous weekly television shows as well as a daily BYU sports show that is simulcast nationally on BYUtv and BYU Radio (SiriusXM).

“On behalf of the many talented professional and student sports-production specialists at BYU Broadcasting, we’re thrilled to be selected as the recipient of the SVG/NACDA Technology Leadership Award,” Minor said. “Nothing we create or broadcast would be possible without the instrumental support and forward-thinking mindset of our primary stakeholders: the university administration, our executive management, and, of course, the athletic program, which is the essence of the thrilling content we feature and present to BYU’s avid global fan base across our linear and digital platforms. We’re honored to receive this prestigious peer recognition for our achievements.”
