BYU Athletics was recently the grateful recipient of a $25,000 contribution from Envoy Mortgage.  The donation check was presented to the Athletic Department through the generosity of Orem-based First Colony Mortgage, a local Legacy Donor that won the $25,000 reward in a contest sponsored by Envoy.

As part of Envoy’s “$30 Million Challenge,” the company committed to donate $25,000 to the favorite charity of any of its lending partners that generated $30 million or more in new loans.  First Colony rose to the challenge and choose BYU Athletics as the benefactor.  The money will be used to fund two full scholarships for the upcoming 2015-2016 athletic year.

Presenting the check was Envoy’s Executive Vice President Dan Hastings and Regional Account Manager Beverly Jordan, who traveled from Louisiana to congratulate First Colony and meet with the BYU administration and some of the student athletes. Scott, Jamie, and Corey Shelley, along with Jackson Ogden represented First Colony at the event.

“It was a very special trip and presentation for us on behalf of First Colony Mortgage,” said Hastings. “We have been doing business with the Aldrichs and Shelleys for almost 30 years and consider them to be like family to us.”  Hastings also mentioned that First Colony has already completed the challenge again for 2015.

“BYU Athletics is part of our business and close to our hearts,” said First Colony Regional Vice President Corey Shelley. “We were delighted to find a way that our work in the community could provide scholarships for BYU student athletes.”
