After working with her husband Brad at All-American Gymnastics since they established the club in 1976, she joined him as Assistant Coach at BYU when he was named head coach 27 years ago.

A nationally experienced coach and judge, Dawn Cattermole has been a respected member of the national gymnastics community for over 30 years.

An expert in beam and floor exercise, Dawn has coached many National Champions on beam and floor at the Junior Olympics and at Elite Nationals.

At BYU, her 1992 floor team earned the Cougars first-ever event score of 49.00. They bettered that in 1993 with a 49.15, tying the beam squad for the highest BYU event score at that time. For the next two years, the floor team continued its high-scoring tradition, and last year, it again broke a school record for best event score with a 49.35. In 2001, the Cougars surpassed the 49.100 mark seven of the eleven meets and finished with a new record of 49.625 on the floor. BYU did even better in 2002, scoring a new school record of 49.650 against Southern Utah and breaking the 49.000 mark in nine of 12 meets. In 2004, the Cougars set a record 49.675 on floor against Southern Utah.

Floor scores of 9.950 or better have become common for the Cougars under Cattermole's guidance. The Cougars scored 9.950 12 times in 2004. In 2003, under her tutelage, Brogan Jacobsen scored the school's first perfect 10.0 on floor and followed with a 9.975 in 2004, a score shared by Kim Little in 2001 and Kari Dye Lords in 2002. In 2004, Lords was second team All-American on floor, scoring a 9.900 at Nationals.

Since adding the role of recruiting coordinator to her duties over 12 years ago, Dawn Cattermole has been key in bringing several world-class stars into the Cougar fold.

A native of Elgin, Illinois, Dawn has attended the 1979 World Championships, 1986 World Championships, Canadian National Championships since 1997, the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England in July 2002, and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

She is married to Brad Cattermole. They have three boys and one granddaughter.
