  • Program-first 2016 National Indoor Title, including a No. 1 national ranking for 10 consecutive weeks

  • Between 2015 and 2023, he mentored athletes to 15 All-American accolades

Coach Warren, a former BYU men’s tennis player from 2004-06 and BYU men’s assistant coach from 2009-2012, became the head BYU men's tennis coach in 2023 after working as the associate head coach of Cal’s women’s tennis team since 2014.

While at Cal, Warren was named regional assistant coach of the year four times. In 2016, he helped lead the Golden Bears to a national indoor championship. That season, Cal held the national No. 1 ranking for 10 consecutive weeks and accumulated a program-best record of 21-2. In 2021 and 2022, the Golden Bears won back-to-back Pac-12 championships. The women’s tennis team won the Cal Newmark Highest GPA Award the past four consecutive years. Warren coached 14 All-Americans in his time at Cal.

At BYU, Warren was named the regional assistant coach of the year in 2011. He helped lead the Cougars to back-to-back conference championships in 2010 and 2011 and BYU’s first appearance in the Top-25 in more than 30 years. Along with playing for the Cougars for two seasons, Warren was also the BYU team manager for one year and a BYU tennis camp instructor. Warren received a bachelor’s degree in communications from BYU, with a business minor. He was a two-time Mountain West all-academic award winner and BYU athletic academic honor roll winner. As a student, he interned as a sports information director with BYU Athletics, working with BYU women’s track.

Originally from Novato, Calif., Warren is married to Angela Warren, a former three-time All-American track athlete at BYU. Zack and Angela have two sons and a daughter.
