Education

Crump received a B.S. degree in Physical Education from BYU in 1978. During his senior year he was assistant men's swim coach and after graduation, went on to teach physical education in the Provo School District. He coached swimming at Timpview High School, in Provo, Utah, for three years. His 1979 Timpview squad was ranked ninth in the nation in Swimming World's Mythical Top Ten. In 1988, he earned an M.S. degree from BYU in Analysis of Human Motion.

Personal/Family

He has been married to Holly Ann Daughtrey since 1977 and together they have five children, three daughters: Margaret, Susannah and Eliza and two sons: Jacob and Wesley.

Stan Crump enters the third year of his new assignment as Associate Head Coach of the BYU combined mens and womens team in this, his 30th year of coaching at BYU. Crump became the Head Womens Swim Coach in 1981 and between then and 2008, his teams won nine WAC and HCAC swimming titles, along with seven MWC swimming championships in the first nine years the conference has existed. His teams also won two MWC regular season championships in 2007 and 2008.

While under his direction, Crumps womens teams never finished lower than second in any conference championship. His swimmers have also earned individual honors with 17 All-America awards and three athletes representing three countries in the Olympic Games.

Crump has earned several individual accolades as well, including eight conference Coach of the Year awards, the Collegiate Swim Coaches Association of Americas Distinguished Coach Award, CSCAAs Master Coach Award, 17 Awards of Merit from the American Swimming Coaches Association, and a level-five ranking from the ASCA, the highest level that can be earned. At BYU, Crump holds the rank of Full Athletic Professional, the athletic equivalent of Full Professor, which was awarded in the fall of 2009.

Crumps commitment to academic excellence can be seen in the scholastic performance of his swimmers who have accumulated numerous Academic All-America awards, and his teams have qualified for the Academic All-America Team Award every semester but two since 1986.

In 1991 Crump led his swimmers to the best season in BYUs history, capturing the inaugural WAC crown and grabbing a best-ever 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Crump was named WAC Coach of the Year and the seven squad members that traveled to the NCAA Championships accumulated a total of 12 All-America awards.
